Beatrice (de Lawedre) Wardlaw was born in Scotland.

Beatrice was a daughter of John de Lawedre (d.1421). The four sisters Mariota, Beatrice, Elizabeth and Christian [and their husbands] received a quarter each of the Crailing, Hownam and Swinside estates. On December 11, 1436 James Rutherford of that Ilk and Alexander Home of that Ilk witnessed the sasine for same at Linlinthgow. Swinside remained a Rutherford holding through the marriage of said James Rutherford and Christian de Lawedre.[1]

The sisters were:

  1. Beatrice who married a Henry Wardlaw.[2]
  2. Elizabeth, (d.before March 1470) married Home of Crowdy, with issue.[3]
  3. Mariotta or Marion, married Sir Alexander Home of that Ilk, later 1st Lord Home, ancestor of the Earls of Home.[4][5]
  4. Christian, married about 1424 James Rutherfurd of that Ilk , ancestor of the Lords Rutherfurd. By this marriage the Rutherfurds gained the Lauder lands of Arbirlot, Newton and Cuthlie near Arbroath in Forfarshire, in feu.[6][7][8]

Surname at birth was most definitely de Lawedre. Unlikely she lived to 155 as she would have been 90 and more years old.
