Beatrice (de Lawedre) Wardlaw was born in Scotland.
Beatrice was a daughter of John de Lawedre (d.1421). Sir Alexander Home had married Mariota (Marion) de Lawedre, also a daughter of John, and so both were granddaughters of Sir Robert de Lawedre of The Bass (d.1425). The four sisters Mariota, Beatrice, Elizabeth and Christian [and their husbands] received a quarter each of the Crailing, Hownam and Swinside estates. On December 11, 1436 James Rutherford of that Ilk and Alexander Home of that Ilk witnessed the sasine for same at Linlinthgow. Swinside remained a Rutherford holding through the marriage of said James Rutherford and Christian de Lawedre.[1]
Elizabeth, (d.before March 1470) married Home of Crowdy, with issue.[3]
Mariotta or Marion, married Sir Alexander Home of that Ilk, later 1st Lord Home, ancestor of the Earls of Home.[4][5]
Christian, married about 1424 James Rutherfurd of that Ilk , ancestor of the Lords Rutherfurd. By this marriage the Rutherfurds gained the Lauder lands of Arbirlot, Newton and Cuthlie near Arbroath in Forfarshire, in feu.[6][7][8]
